Course background and key benefits to be derived from session
The Business Intelligence and Competitive Intelligence functions in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries are relatively new functions in
many organizations.  The first BI/CI groups only appeared about 20 years ago in a limited number of companies.  Over the past 20 years, BI/CI
groups have fluctuated in their success and failures, with many groups being disbanded, only to be reformed at a later point of time.  This course
will explore why this phenomenon has occurred and examine the more successful programs over this time period.  A core component of the
successful programs has been their ability to “prove and communicate” the value of the functions to the organization in which they operate.  This
course will examine and review what drives a successful BI/CI function.

Mind Traps - How Other Players can suck you into Making Bad Decisions
Many of the world's largest corporations such as Chevron, Pfizer, IBM, GE, Microsoft, and others use Game Theory to avoid being sucked into
making bad business decisions that result in dangerous outcomes for their most complicated issues and competitive challenges.

Come learn how other players can set you up into making bad decisions and how to avoid these situations. This highly requested seminar will help
you bring clarity to multi-player business problems using well-known 2x2 games and other illustrative principles of Game Theory. The applicability
of this event fits into the areas of corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, risk mitigation, IP licensing, and multi-player interactions along the
value chain.

Key take-aways from this session include:
  • An understanding of Game Theory and its practical applications
  • An advanced introduction to two of the best-known 2x2 games - Prisoner's Dilemma and Chicken - and how understanding these games
can help you develop strategies to avoid being trapped by other players in similar situations
  • Knowing how to bring clarity to complex multi-player problems by applying Game Theory to unravel them
